"Middle insomnia"

Wikipedia states that what I am experiencing is "middle insomnia". And Wikipedia is teh sh-t, so that must be correct. ;)

I just simply keep "waking during the middle of the night" and have "difficulty maintaining sleep". Apparently this is "often associated with pain syndromes or medical illness".

WELL I AM EXPERIENCING PAIN, so Wikipedia might just have HIT THE SPOT.

My foot is making weird noises, like old wooden doors when you try opening them, and I mean REALLY old freaking doors.

I have been a "middle insomniac" for my whole life though. Or at least an insomniac.
I have gone through ALL of the different types of insomnia;
a) as a child I never used to be able to fall asleep. When I finally fell asleep, it was out of exhaustion, and it was only for a few hours. Probably due to death anxiety. (I thought I was gonna die if I went to sleep, and I could also see the back of my eyelids, or well, IMAGINED that I did, as soon as I closed them)
b) In High School, I used to wake up at 4 AM and couldn't fall asleep again. Probably due to stress.
c) During my Bachelor's, Master's and now PhD I guess my sleeping patters have just been CRAPPY all the time. Thinking too much? I don't know. But I do have nightmares all the time. Keep waking up from being smothered by someone, attacked by someone or just being ridiculed by a bunch of people..

So yeah, I ALWAYS look forward to going to sleep, really.
