"All PhDs are nerds"

There is probably something in the statement saying "all PhD students are nerds", isn't there? Is this completely true? Are all high academic scientists TRUE NERDS with BORING PERSONALITIES? Then how come everyone thinks that they are soooo cool when they are 70 years old? Or is that just me thinking that they are? *lol*

Maybe academic scientists are all done and ready pretty early in life - we mature earlier and people see us as boring because we simply age quicker? Then, when we finally "reach the age we behave as", we are considered not nerds, but amazingly intelligent and cool?

I don't know.
I just know I want to be one. ;)
